June Cruise: St. Michaels, Located on Maryland's Eastern Shore
St. Michaels is a historic town on the eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay that dates back to the mid 1600s as a trading post for tobacco farmers and trappers. Today, St. Michaels is a quaint town of about 1,000 residents with an active arts and tourist scene. Thousands of tourists visit each year for the town's dining and lodging destinations as well as the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. For our club cruises, we usually arrive at St. Michaels Marina in the late afternoon and enjoy a Happy Hour on board or on shore with wine and snacks. In the evening, we walk into town to window shop and dine at one of the many restaurants. There are showers and restrooms available at the marina. Both boats can accommodate 5-6 crew in the cabin, but some opt to sleep on deck, weather permitting.
St. Michael's Cruise
Our trip to St. Michael's was almost perfect. John Saveland was the Captain on the True Bearing. And Cate, Jayne and Chanath crewed. Les Vagabond had a crew of 5 with Ken Eckert, Captain, and Sharon, Olivia, Liane and Bonnie crewed.
The weather was great, the winds were seasonal and we pulled into our slip at the beautiful Harbour Inn and Spa at around 4pm. We docked, checked in and headed for the pool to cool off. Happy hour was it's usual gourmet spread with wine pairings:) Later we walked into town enjoying the lovely tree lined streets with lovely new and old quaint little (some not so little) houses. A little window shopping, some local ice cream and then we hailed a water taxi to take us back to our yachts for the evening.
Sunday morning was a little overcast but breezey. We all hit the coffee bar that opened at 6:30am., yea. Breakfast was enjoyed at the outdoor deck where some of us enjoyed the Crab Eggs Benedict. Incredible!!!!
It was finally time to head for Annapolis. The winds were great for most of trip home. We arrived in our home port of Eastport at around 5pm. Sun drenched and exhausted but looking forward to Rockhall in July. Check your calendars and come join us, but hurry, it's almost full.
